Cllr Suiter was first elected to the Town Council in May 2003 and was re-elected to the Council at the elections held on 4th May 2023. At the Annual Meeting of the Council held on Wednesday 15th May 2024 he was elected Chairman and Town Mayor of the Council for the 2024-2025 Council year.

Cllr Suiter is a member of the Finance, Human Resources and Planning Committees of the Council. He is also a member of the Neighbourhood Planning Sub-Committee of the Council.

In addition Cllr Suiter is one of the Council's two representatives to meetings of the Lincoln Association of Local Councils, one of the Council's two nominees to the Board of Trustees of the Sleaford Unity Charity and is one of three Council representatives to meetings of the Sleaford Climate Action Network.
